Baška (pronounced [bâʃka]) is a village and a municipality located in the southeast of the island of Krk, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia.

Some extrusions, made of goethite and partially of phyllosilicates (mainly kaolinite), have been identified to the west and south of Baška in Cretaceous and Paleocene limestones near the Flysch contact.

Several bauxitic outcrops are present in the area of Baška and Stara Baška (Lenaz & Merlak, 2011). These are residual rocks, rather compact and with high density, rich in Al and Fe – oxides and hydroxides. Analyses performed by means of X-ray powder diffraction on samples collected from two bauxitic veins close to Baška, located respectively at 247 m a.s.l. along the path connecting Stražice to Baška (44° 58' 41" N, 14° 45' 38" E) and at 113 m a.s.l. along the path connecting Bunculuka porta a Vela Luk (44° 58' 12" N, 14° 46' 50" E), have shown that they are mainly composed of boehmite, goethite, and hematite (Merlak et al., 2013).
