Located immediately south of the McPherson's Reward open pits, as a shallow 14 metre deep pit. Originally this location had been explored as the Lady Grace South leases.
In 1983, Bill Powell, located a gold bonanza 125 metres south-west of the historic McPherson's Reward mine. A-Cap Development Ltd owned the neighbouring lease, and after the nearby discovery, entered an option agreement with Open Pit Mining and Exploration Pty Ltd. They stripped the overburden down to 14 metres from the surface. High gold values were uncovered of up to 40 g/t Au, with visible gold in quartz reefs and stringers.
From 1986 to 1988, Roebuck Resources joined a joint venture with Samson Exploration NL, Open Pit Mining mentioned above and Croesus Resources in a drilling programme. Roebuck withdrew in 1988 after disappointing results. Samson continued and expanded to areas like the Queensland prospects, about 2 kilometres south-east with some reasonable results.
Between 1996-1999 Spinifex Resources explored below the A-Cap pit. While it found gold, the source is critical about the accuracy and thoroughness of Spinifex's drilling programme.
The deposit is found in the McPherson's Reward tonalite as it extends in strike south-west from the McPherson Mine. The geology therefore is likely very similar if not the same as that mentioned under the McPherson's Reward Mindat heading.
