Ordinary Chondrite (L5)
Found 1901, 5.9 kg
A meteoritic mass was found ~5 km NW of Hendersonville (note: coordinates based on this description, not on MetBull database). It may have fallen in 1876 when a bright bolide passed over the town. Olivine composition (Fa24) is characteristic of L (low iron) ordinary chondrites. Fe-Ni metal (Ni ~9.4 wt%) consists of kamacite and taenite with plessitic regions.
