Iron ores in Upper Triassic (Norian) sedimentary rocks.
An ancient mine, situated in Valle Bruna to the south of Cassa del Ferro Mt., operated from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The melting furnace, located at Cazzabella in Gallo Valley, dates from 1354.



Note: this territory (i.e. Valle Bruna and the upper Gallo Valley), located on the northern slope of the Alps (Inn-Danube hydrographic basin), is included in Valdidentro municipality.
