The Copper Belle was one of the most developed mines in the Index district, but lost a considerable amount of money. It primarily produced copper, but had some byproduct silver and gold. There are reports of a small amount of tungsten occuring in the ore body as well. From around 1902-1905 it was developed heavily, with 50 ton per day mill and 20 ton per day smelter built near the main adit. By 1909 the mine was closed due to lack of ore. The main adit was around 2000' long with a 200' winze. Almost all of the production however came from a stope above the first few hundred feet of the adit. Mineralization consisted of a single main lens shaped body in oligocene tonalite along with a few other stringer veins.
