Mining concession no. 1280 Poço Redondo (Au), reg. date 22-02-1923.

Note: there is reference to another "Poço Redondo" (Au) with the same mining concession no. 1280 and reg. date 22-02-1923 but at Olalhas parish.



- Poço Redondo: Gold was already being exploited at this locality by the Romans in antiquity.
- The deposits in this area consist of a system of ferruginous quartz breccias containing small amounts of sulphides, trending N40°E over a distance of approximately 0.5 km. The host rocks in which they occur date from the Precambrian and consist predominantly of black slates and sericitic schists.
- Average gold grades are in the order of a few grams per tonne.
