The "Grosse Rabenstein" is an imposing rock with a steeply inclined wall between Thale and Treseburg on the east of the Bodetal canyon. This steep wall is crossed by a mineral vein indicated by a rusty trail, that is visible even from a far distance. A small adit with a small dump on its front is located on the foot of the wall.
Mineralization is not that spectacular but typical for the surroundings of the Ramberg granite pluton: chunky quartz, pyrrhotine, pyrite, chalcopyrite, calcite, fluorite, accessory chlorite. There are no secondary minerals with the exception of limonite. It's not advised to visit this locality (fruitless and dangerous).
Below the pathway between Thale and Treseburg at the level of the river Bode a further adit exists on the same vein (less dangerous to reach but dead as well).
Remark: grossular (var. hessonite) can be possibly found at the rocks around the Rabenstein - even right nearby the pathway.
