Begun as a limestone quarry in 1897 or before, operations transitioned to room-and-pillar underground mining around 1956 to exploit high-purity limestone units that are too deeply buried for continued open-pit operation. Current products include calcium oxide ("lime"), magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate, chemical-grade limestone, and crushed limestone aggregate (Garvin & Crawford 1992; www.linwoodmining.com).
