Letca Village is situated in the northwest Transylvanian Basin, near the Someș river valley. Geographically it is located in Purcareț-Boiu Mare-Jugăstreni Plateau, Someșan Plateau.
Locality attested from 1405.

Geologically, the area is characterized by Eocene and Oligocene karst rocks, limestone deposits and clay sediments.

Minerals identified: Calcite, gypsum, goethite, jarosite, brushite, hydroxylapatite, taranakite, marcasite, pyrite.
