Carrière PCM
Initially opened by Mr. Yves Patenaude in 1975 for the construction of Highway 55, this 500 x 170 meters two-level quarry was acquired in 1989 by PCM Quarries of the Piercon Group.
The following description was drawn from the Deposit File of the MRNF (Ministère des ressources naturelles et de la faune):
The rocks in this quarry are assigned to the Mawcook Formation of the Shefford Group. Some 70% of the rock is composed of medium to fine-grained, cleyey sandstone, of a medium greenish-gray color. Also, a dark-grey, finely laminated calcaro-dolomitic siltstone in ill-defined beds up to 15cm thick, a greenish dark grey mudstone, and a meter-thick light gray quartzitic sandstone are present.
Quartz veins up to 10 cm wide accompanied with calcite, and traces of bornite and pyrite, were observed.
