Köppen climate type:
Note: Formerly in Perthshire, now in Stirlingshire following boundary changes.
An ultrabasic intrusion with concentrations of talc, and chromite. The latter was trialled in the 19th century by the Marquis of Breadalbane, but without success. The ultrabasic rocks, mostly serpentine and talc/carbonate form a roughly oval mass centred on Dun Garbh Beag, a small peak at NN 5205 3574, about 760 m west of Corrycharmaig farm. The main chromite working is a flooded level at NN 5192 3574 and a trench from there to 5197 3571. Chromite is scarce here, but the remains of an ore pile can still be found by a trial pit at NN 5222 3590, approx. 540 m west of the farm. Veins of crystalline talc with calcite are at NN 5204 3584, due west of the house.
