Nitrate deposits located in/around T1S, R23 & 24E, SBM, in the area from where the Santa Fe Railroad crosses the Colorado River in San Bernardino County, South to the Vivet Eye peak (not reflected by name on topo maps) in the extreme NE corner of Riverside County, in all comprising about 10 square miles.
NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented are arbitrary to the extreme NE corner of Riverside County and serve only to place this locality in context.
Mineralization is nitrates occurring as surface efflorescences, in shales of lake beds, on slopes of hills and heavier deposits to about 1 foot (0.3 meter) or more thick, chiefly in porous volcanic breccias. Abundance decreases rapidly with depth.
