"TEA TREE GULLY MINE was an historic mine that worked an outcrop of ironstone gossan, it was first discovered in 1853, and worked for iron ore for use as a flux in 1888. Workings consisted of a small open cut, and a series of adits and shafts. Host rock was metasediment, phyllite, dolomite, slate, shale. At depth copper mineralisation was intersected, with some lead, silver and gold mineralisation reported. The area is rural, hilly. 300 tonnes of iron ore for use as flux was recorded."
