In calcite at contact of crystalline limestone and hornblende-feldspar gneiss. "The deposit was opened for iron in 1872 by Thomas Shortiss who made a shipment of iron ore. The ore was obtained from a trench measuring 5 m by 73 m. In 1882 Messrs. Parry and Mills examined the property and began the construction of a blast furnace but funds ran out before completion." Ultimately closed 1961.
