Balmat Talc mine; Vanderbilt pit
A former talc mine located immediately East of Sylvia Lake and South of Fowler.
Mineralization is a talc seam 30 - 40 feet (9.8 - 11.7 meters) thick.
Workings were deeper than 1,000 feet.
The mine was partially rehabilitated and is planned (2020) to be used as an open pit waste dump for the revitalised Empire State Mine.
