A Hg Claim
This claim is located on a tributary to Indian Creek, 34 miles from Naches
It worked a silica-carbonate hydrothermally altered zone, 150' by 1,500' and exposed to a depth of 300' in gneissoid diorite
Developments include a 15' adit, a longer adit, numerous open cuts and diamond drill holes
Ref:
Huntting, M. (1956): Inventory of Washington Minerals, Part II, Metallic Minerals, Vol. 1, p.266
Cannon, B. (1975): Minerals of Washington, p.75
Structure: Foliation Trends Nnw Dips Steeply W.
Alteration: Silica-Carbonate
Tectonics: Cascade Volcanic Arc
Commodity: Magnetite is disseminated in many of the rocks
Deposit: Mrds record m054835 has been merged with this record and deleted hydrothermally altered zone is 150 x 1500 x 300 ft. Slight ni staining seen in places. Widely disseminated cinnabar As paint and tiny crstals in silica carbonate (altered volcanic rock?) in this 1500-ft long zone.
Deposit type: Silica-carbonate Hg
Development: Dmea contract recommended, denied in 1955. Area along steep creek banks explored by trenching, diamond drilling, and an adit. No commercial concentration of cinnabar found. Further exploration might be justified.
Geology: Metasedimentary rocks of possible mesozoic age are in area of claims
