An open cut quarry for feldspar, beryl, columbite-tantalite.
Situated approx. 11 km East of Boolcoomata station.
First mined in 1960 by McMahon Felspar Pty. Ltd.
NOTE: The area is now part of a Nature reserve and collecting is prohibited!
The Mineralogical Society of South Australia is helping the Australian Bush Heritage Fund to clean up, protect and make safe, this and other sites on the property.
NOTE: Specimens are often mislabeled as 'McMahon's quarry', although the location has never been named as such.
Not to be confused with Wiperaminga Hill West Quarry.
Records show only 115 ton of material mined to 1963, with a total value of £706 (Nb: Australia changed to Dollars in 1966).
