Located about 30 km SSW from Lappeenranta and 6 km SW of Ylämaa. Famous for excellent "spectrolite" ("spectrolite" is a variety of labradorite used as a gemstone).
According to Gübelin & Wolgensinger (1976), "the locality was discovered by a Finnish mineralogist who stumbled upon granite blocks which contained labradorite crystals during the Finnish-Russian campaign in the winter of 1939-1940 during the construction of border fortifications."
Note: there appear to be several quarries in the region, therefore, the GPS coordinates are approximate.
