The reference (Gair, 1959) covers district geology, of which the Pareora Gorge is a small part. It is an out of the way spot, west of Timaru. There is a small dam used as a local swimming spot.

Pringle and Kawachi indicate that the locality is in the lower Pareora Gorge area.
