Elvas is a municipality located in the southern part of the district of Portalegre, bordered by the district of Évora and by Spain. It covers an area of 630 square kilometres and is divided into seven parishes.

Numerous Sn–Ti occurrences are found in the parish of Santa Eulália parish.
