A populated place (incorporated city) located along the Ohio River.

This town is crossed by several parallel veins containing fluorite, calcite and minor galena, sphalerite and quartz. The Rosiclare Lead and Spar Company mill dominated the town until it was razed in the late 1990's. The dumps are located outside the fence-line of the American Fluorite Museum. They consist of chunks of calcite with minor amounts of fluorite, chalcopyrite (with green stains on the calcite or fluorite), quartz, sphalerite and galena (with rare cerussite association). The best minerals may be obtained by carefully removing calcite with acid to reveal delicate quartz, chalcopyrite and fluorite crystals.
