The deposits are located along faults which usually take the name of the mine they contain. Starting in the northeast and going southwest the Eureka Faults split into the Hillside Fault on the east, the Daisy Fault in the middle, and the Blue - Diggings Fault on the west. The Hillside Fault runs north - south for about 1.5 km then the Rosiclare Fault branches off to the west but turns a few degrees east of south as it nears the Ohio River. The Daisy Fault joins the Blue - Diggings Fault which also curves east of south near the Ohio River. The Argo Fault is parallel to, and just west of the Blue - Diggings.
The major ore shoot in the Blue Diggings Vein in the Fairview Mine was worked continuously for 1740 m. It was 180 - 210 m. high, averaged 1.6 m. wide, but in places reached 10 m. The Rosiclare Vein ore body in the Rosiclare Mine was mined continuously for 1480 m. from the surface to a depth of 216 m. and averaged 1.5 - 1.8 m wide with a maximum width of 4.3 m. The vein in the Daisy Mine had an ore shoot 600 m. long, 76 m. high and averaged 1 m. wide with a maximum of 3 m. Less exceptional ore shoots in the better mines in the district are typically 75 to 120 m. long, 30 to 60 m. high and 1.5 m. wide. (Grogan & Bradbury 1968).
