Large scale Fe-(Cu-Co) skarn deposit, consisting of irregular bodies and lenses. The main deposit occurs in the contact zone between a Cretaceous diorite intrusion and Mid-Ordovician limestone. Intense metasomatism resulted in formation of scapolite skarn, and metasomatic albitite and diopside-albitite. The metasomatic zoning consists of: (1) diorite and diopside-albite-altered diorite, (2) diopside-albite skarn or albite metasomatic rock; (3) diopside skarn overprinted by magnetite; and (4) marble. The abundance of iron sulphides correlates with the intensity of albite alteration. The deposit minerals occur as masses, disseminations and layers. Magnetite replaces diopside, formed simultaneously with tremolite, actinolite and phlogopite, and is itself replaced by pyrite and other sulphides. The deposit is located in the southern Taihang Mountains. There is a group of smaller, similar deposits in the area.
