"Name: Gordon Reward."
"Mineral: Gold, titanium, Gems & Ochre."
"Location: 1 1/2 miles S of Williamstown."
"Geology: Tertiary sand and gravel capping on hill. Minerals and gems found include topaz, sapphire, kyanite, corundum, ruby, beryl, chrysoberyl, aquarmarine, aventurine, gold & rutile."
"Workings: Numerous shafts 10ft to 25ft deep, over 600ft drives."
"Production: 50 tons ochre (1911)

"History: Iron and gemstones were first found here in 1849 but little work was done. In 1879 there was some renewed prospecting when a topaz was found and gold mining was commenced. Nothing more appears to have been done to 1901 when gold and gem mining was recommenced. In 1908 a company installed a plant including a puddling mill, sluiceboxes, jigs and other machinery and many shafts were sunk and drives put in. Extensive exploration for precious stones was carried out in 1909. The following year a lease was worked for gold and rutile and work was carried on for several years. There was renewed activity in 1923 and in the early 1930's."
