A pyrite-rich, polymetallic, stratiform ore mineralization occurs at Rifugio Borromeo in the upper Martello Valley. It is closely associated with two adjacent, but lithologically different horizons (quartzites and chlorite-bearing phyllites) in the phyllites of Venosta Valley Austroalpine basement (Casari, 1986).
Both horizons is very rich in Co and As.
