Formerly: Trudeau Quarry, Ste-Justine-de-Newton, Vaudreuil Co., Québec, Canada
Please note the actual name of the quarry is "Asphalte Trudeau Ltée". The pit was initially opened in 1965 under the name Carrière Sainte-Justine Inc., became inactive for a while until 1988 when Béton Trudeau acquired it.
The following description was taken from the Deposit File of the MRNF (Ministère des ressources naturelles et de la faune) :
The cut observed in the quarry shows various types of massive or bedded dolostone of the Beauharnois Formation (Beekmantown Group), separated by thin clay interbeds. Thickness of the dolostone beds varies from 10 to 60 cm at the lower part of the quarry, to over 2,5 m at the upper level.
Cavities and very small vugs in the rock are host to a suite of typical Beekmantown crystallisations.
