Locality description: 39 km south west of the township of Ora Banda in the Mining District of Kunanalling.
The species identified in this area are from an unpublished report (Trask 1987) about the use of andalusite as a refractory ore. Locations mentioned are Rock Dam, Reptile dam, and West Reptile Dam.
There is a suggestion the area may contain facet grade andalusite, including chiastolite. The main area of interest is West Reptile Dam. One area, 600 x 200m, contains eluvial scattered andalusite crystals in weathered fine grained whitestone schist. In another area, 10 x 35mm on average andalusite crystals occur within a silicified laterite. West of West Reptile Dam are reported a large number of ferruginous andalusite crystals, on a laterite surface. Generally the material described above is less than 15mm in length. It includes some transparent material. Verbal communication with a fellow rock collector stated there is abundant chiastolite, but the matrix is friable.
