Small pegmatite dyke embedded in gneiss along the cut of a small road on the eastern side of the Curiglia village.

The occurrence of subhedral crystals of a pale blue tourmaline in this pegmatite was discovered in 2003 by Federico Pezzotta. On the basis of the first analytical data, this tourmaline was classified as olenite (Pezzotta & Guastoni, 2006). A single-crystal structure refinement of a sample showed (Kolitsch & Ertl, unpubl. data) that this olenite is very similar to an Fe-bearing olenite described from a Czech locality (Cempírek et al., 2006). A recent crystal-chemical characterisation of a sample of this tourmaline proved it to be a new species, named princivalleite in honour of the mineralogist Francesco Princivalle (b. 1956).
