Mine commenced in 1884.
Located approximately 58 km South-East of Canberra.
"As at 1968, the oxidised portion, Keatings Gossan (pointed out by Dr. David Branagan) was still accessible and contained crystalline cerussite which had been mistakenly identified as gypsum and not avidly collected. (It was not until a piece was put onto the wood stove in the old hospital to see if it could be calcined to plaster of Paris, that the bright orange-red of lead oxide was revealed.) There was no time to return to the gossan on the next day and the excursion left the area."
