A copper mine once owned and operated by LKAB Viscaria AB. Started 1983. Produced 1.25 million tons ore yielding 93,000 tons Cu concentrate (1983). Later sold to Outukumpu OY and closed 1997.

Named after a flower, Viscaria alpina (Lychnis alpina, "copper flower"), which indicated copper content in the ground.
