A silver mine.
The Coniagas Mine (named for CO-cobalt, NI-nickel, AG-silver and AS-Arsenic) was one of the first mines discovered in the Cobalt Mining Camp. It was discovered by W. Tretheway in the late fall of 1903 and, up until 1968 produced almost 40 million troy ounces of silver. Besides silver, the Coniagas shipped a fair amount of nickel ore, mostly in the form of nickeline and breithauptite.
