The Gardner Quarry is an granite quarry owned by Hanson Aggregates Southeast, Inc. It provides gravel used in everything from road construction to driveway gravel to much of Harnett County. A large amount of the granite was used to create the road to the Anderson Creek County Park if anyone is interested in having a look at material from the quarry without trying to work out access.
The granite is medium grained and a mostly white to very light pink in color. Mineralization of a variety of species including Pyrite, Molybdenite, and even Fluorite have been observed. Muscovite is relatively common and occasionally pockets of quartz crystals can be found. The granite is reported to be roughly Permian in age.
