Originally reported by Xiao et al. (1998) from Xifanping Cu deposit, Yanyuan Co., Liangshan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China.
Sun et al. (2003) and Xie et al. (2006) use Zinccopperite as a generic name for various Cu-Zn alloys, including Cu3Zn (Brass), Cu2Zn (Tongxinite), Danbaite, Zhanghengite and Zinccopperite sensu stricto.
