Type Occurrence of FluorocroniteHide

General Appearance of Type Material:
Macroscopically, white masses coat larger encrustations of cream-coloured cassiterite. Microscopically, flattened, leaf-like microcrystals up to about 20 µm, with a thickness of less than 1 µm.

Sn-bearing fluorocronite forms single, elongated prismatic crystals (with elongation about 5:1) up to 15 µm long, found on top of aggregates of Sn oxy-hydroxide.

Fersman Mineralogical Museum, Moscow, Russia, catalogue number 3987/1.
Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, California, USA, catalogue number 63316.
Geological Setting of Type Material:
Supergene alteration, formed under ambient surface conditions from the weathering of galena and Pb-bearing sulphosalts.
