From the Greek αγκυλός ("ankylos") for "curved", in allusion to its usually rounded and distorted crystal shapes at the type locality, plus the "-(Ce)" suffix due to cerium being the dominant REE in the composition.
The strontium analogue of calcioancylite-(Ce) and gysinite-(Ce). The cerium analogue of ancylite-(La).
