Named in honor of Dr. Albert James Ellis (27 December 1929, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand - 2 April 2023, Waikanae, New Zealand), geochemist, Chemistry Division, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Zealand, for his contributions to the field of hydrothermal geochemistry.
