A former placer Au-PGE (Pt) mine located in sec. 36, T8N, R2W, MDM, 6.0 km (3.7 miles) SW of Winters, in the mouth of Putah Creek area, on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a stream placer (Deposit model: Model code 119; USGS model code 39a; BC deposit profile C01. C02; Deposit model name: Placer Au-PGE
Mark3 model number 54), hosted in conglomerate and containing cobbles of quartz, granite and diorite. The ore body is stream sediment deposits. Ore emplacement controls included stream hydraulics. The deposit lies in a conglomerate area of several square miles sloping up to the W. Local rocks include Eocene marine rocks and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
A related tectonic structure is the California Coast Ranges.
