A former lode Au group of claims/mine located in sec. 18, T1S, R15E, MDM, about 2.8 miles S of Hog Mountain, along the Tuolumne River (San Pedro Reservoir)(0.2 km SE of the Clio Mine; about 1 mile E of Jacksonville, on ridge W of Kanaka Creek). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in slate. The ore body strikes N45W and dipd 65NE. The footwall is slate and the hanging wall is amphibolite schist. The ore is disseminated, occurring with auriferous pyrite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 216 foot inclined shaft with a series of crosscut adits ranging from 50 to 100 feet in length.
