A former Mn mine located in sec. 17, T2S, R15E, MDM, 3.0 km (9,900 feet) SSW of Domingo Peak (coordinates of record) and 3.5 km (2.2 miles) NE of Jacksonville site, W of Hatch Creek, on the E side of the Don Pedro Reservoir. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Seiad Valley Complex. The ore occurs in thick-bedded red chert, and some pale green and white chert. Chert is enclosed in metatuff (?) and green metavolcanics, of the Amador group. They strike N25 to 50E, and dip in general 70 SE. Ore is mainly hard, brittle psilomelane, generally cherty. Some pink rhodonite is present. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings.
Analytical data results: Average grade of the ore is 30% Mn.
