A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼ sec. 26, T1S, R16E, MDM, 2.0 km (6,700 feet) W of Big Oak Flat, along Grizzly Gulch (about 1 mile N of Priest), on private (patented) land. Property consists of 2 patented claims in the same belt as the Eureka and Grizzly claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NE and dips SE. Slate zones rich in pyrite with 2 systems of quartz veins and seams yielding pocket ore. One set is nearly flat and dips W. The other strikes N30E across schistosity of the slate and dips 70SE. High-grade pyrite zone occurs in the slate, separated by dikes. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include unspecified underground openings.
This prospect was worked in the middle to late 1800's.
