A Mn occurrence located in the SE¼ sec. 27, T2N, R7E, HM, (UTM approximate, altitude does not correspond with section location on topo map), 3.6 km (2.2 miles) NW of Friend Mountain, along Indian Valley Creek (about ¼ mile N of road to Limedyke lookout). Discovered 1940. Owned by Clarence A. and William H. Patton, California (1974). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is a Mn deposit hosted in chert. The Mn lies in a belt of red and purple, thin-bedded cherts 600 feet in width and at least 2,500 feet long. The chert strikes NW and is nearly vertical. It is bounded on both sides by greenstone and seemingly is a large roof pendant in this plutonic body, but it lines up along strike with similar bodies to the SE . The chert is covered by Mn films in places, and in places Mn is concentrated in lenticular masses. The ore is oxidized to a depth of 3 feet (1 meter). The primary ore is mainly manganiferous chert, but some rhodonite is present. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).

Analytical data results: Average 2% Mn. A small amount (about 100 tons) of 20% ore is present.
