A former lode Au-Cu mine located in sec. 33, T35N, R10W, MDM (UTM acc. Land unsurveyed for township-range. Projected), 2.8 km (9,200 feet) SE of Dedrick, and 1.7 miles E of the Dedrick lookout point, along a small unnamed tributary of Bear Gulch. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in hornblendite, schist, and diorite. The ore body is lenticular, strikes N70E, dips 45SE at a thickness of 1.83 meters. Dioritic dikes, 6 to 60 feet thick, cut schist. Some pyrite occurs in coarse cubes. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 128.02 meters. Mill-tunnel level, 2000 feet long, 1200 feet of which was drifting 70 feet above, 260 feet of drifts. 2 raises between these levels. 60 feet higher, 260 feet of drifts and a raise to surface. 350 feet of drifting done on a body of base ore in adit below mill-tunnel level. Logan (1926) describes at least 4 levels of workings.
Production data are found in: Logan (1926); Averill (1933).
Later statements by Averill indicate that about 9,000 to 10,000 tons of $6 ore (period values) was produced. No other production data were found.
Analytical data results: Body of base ore was assayed. $3 to $5/ton in Au. (period values). Logan reports that several years previous to 1926, 880 samples from all parts of the mine averaged $7.10/ton (period values) for average thickness of about 3 feet.
