A former Cr claim/mine located 3.8 km (2.4 miles) W of Boulder Peak (coordinates of record), along the West Branch Crow Creek, on National Forest land. Owned by the Southern Pacific Co., San Francisco, California. Operated by H. T. and J. Co., San Francisco, California (1954). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a Cr deposit hosted in Late Cretaceous serpentinite. The ore body is lens/pod-shaped at a thickness of 1.52 meters and a length of 91.44 meters. The deposit occurs in a large peridotite body that covers approximately 300 square miles of NE Trinity County. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 1 (Trinity Ophiolite).
Workings include surface openings comprised of several open cuts (1954).
The Fe content is too high to make a profitable concentrate, so mining was suspended in 1954.
