A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 26 & 35, T19N, R10E, MDM, about 1.8 km (1.1 miles) NE of Alleghany, along the North Fork Kanaka Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. USGS MRDS file NOTE: T&R section was inferred from the general description - but may be in the NW¼ sec. 35, more likely in the SW¼ sec. 26.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite and schist. The ore body strikes N35W and dips 55NE. A small vein is cut by a N-striking fault dipping 80E, with reverse movement of a few feet. Pyrite was deposited on the fault plane subsequent to movement. Quartz stringers outcrop. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include surface & underground openings comprised of a short adit and an open cut.
