A former Au mine located in secs. 30 & 31, T33N, R6W, MDM, 0.5 km (1,500 feet) NW of Mad Mule Mountain (coordinates of record) (coordinates estimated), on the divide between Grizzly Gulch and Deadwood Gulch, in the headwaters area of Studhorse Gulch. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a gold-bearing vein near, and parallel with, a contact between Bragdon Formation rocks (siltstone and shale), and Copley and Balaklala Formation rocks (greenstone and rhyolite). The ore body is tabular, strikes N, dips 60E, at 1.07 meters thick and 18.29 meters long. The footwall is slate and the hanging wall is meta-rhyolite. Associated rock is dacite. Alaskite follows the vein in the main adit. The ore shoot is 200 feet x 16 inches. Local rocks include carboniferous marine rocks, unit 4 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings. Operations consist of a main adit at 190 feet, a crosscut with 600 feet of drifts, a 30 foot winze. A second level consists of 230 feet of drifting.
