A former Au-Ag-Pb occurrence/mine located in the NW¼SE¼ sec. 16, T10N, R1E, SBM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles/6,900 feet), WNW of Calico. The property is comprised of 6 Au-Ag claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10164277 presents MRDS file #10023744 as a related file; however, it pertains to a borate mine in an unspecified T&R location with substantially discrepant geographic coordinates to this mine.
Mineralization is hosted in rhyolite, sedimentary breccia and lake sediments. The ore body is 9.14 meters thick. A 6 to 30 foot shear zone occurs at a contact. Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 400 foot adit with a 100 foot winze in 1943. Recent development (1952) consists of 3 shallow shafts, a 2,884 adit and 1,500 feet of drifts.
