A former Cu occurrence/mine located in the NW¼SW¼SW¼ sec. 7, T2N, R25E, SBM, 7.5 km (4.7 miles) N of Vista Peak (coordinates of record), on Bureau of Land Management administered land (located claim0. Operated during the period of the 1940's to 1950's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Corrected coordinates : N34.270893 W114.402949 taken at remains of the mill site (vat leach operation) by Richard Muster in the year 2010 using an Ashtech MM6 device. Mining took place at N34.27168 W114.40426 and N34.26885 W114.40541.
This property was examined in conjunction with the mineral appraisal of the Whipple Mountains Wilderness Study Area (Bureau of Land Management) in 1980. Backup information can be found in the WFOC mineral property files.
The ore body is irregular, breccia fill. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal activity. The secondary mode of origin was oxidation. Primary ore control was fracturing and the secondary control was faulting. Wallrock alteration is slight (propylitic). Local rocks include Precambrian igneous and metamorphic rock complex.
Workings include unspecified surface openings (the topo map reflects 2 open cast mine symbols labeled "mines" just W of this point plus three leaching tank symbols at this point).
The material was crushed to minus ½ inch (-1.25 cm) in leach vats. Material in stockpile was also similarly crushed.
