A former Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 1 & in the SE¼SE¼ sec. 2, T3N, R2W, SBM, 2.0 km (1.3 miles) WNW of North Peak White Mountain (coordinates of record), along the W ridge of Grapevine Canyon (1.6 miles NE of Horse Spring Camp), on federal recreational land (Grapevine Canyon Recreation Lands). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body is 0.3 meter thick. The veins are fractured and up to 1 foot thick. The granite is sheeted. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 caved inclines, 40 and 15 feet deep, respectively.
