A former Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 20, T1S, R9E, SBM, 3.0 km (1.8 miles) NW of Rocky Point (coordinates of record), about 9.2 km NW of Gold Park (flat) (Riverside County, and 7.3 km (4.5 miles) S of Twentynine Palms (2.5 miles E of the summit of Queen Mountain), on National Park Service land (Joshua Tree National Park). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist. The ore body strikes N40E and dips 60NW. Associated rocks include granite. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 50 foot open cut and a 150 foot shaft with a drift on the 50 foot level.
A small amount of ore was produced in 1940 and yielded $70 (period values) Au/ton by amalgamation.
