A former Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NW¼NE¼ sec. 30, T4S, R4W, SBM, about 10.6 km W of Perris, just S of the Gavilan Mine. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granite. The Gavilan vein strikes N65W and dips 30S at 12 to 24 inches (30 to 60 cm) wide. The Ida-Leona vein strikes N65W and dips 60-65S at 12 to 48 inches (30 cm to 1.2 meters) wide, 400 feet S of the Gavilan vein. The Au is quartz-free and associated with pyrite and galena. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks , unit 2 (Peninsular Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of A 485 foot shaft sunk on the vein on the Gavilan. On the Ida-Leona a 2-compartment shaft was sunk 350 feet with drifts at 50 foot intervals.
